Amalfi Coast in October: Weather, Crowds & What's Open
October is one of the best shoulder months on the Amalfi Coast: still warm, with a sea kept mild by the summer, thinning crowds and lower prices. Early October feels like a calmer late summer; by month's end the first autumn rain arrives and some seasonal services wind down.

What the weather is like in October
October is mild to warm, with pleasant days and cooler evenings. The sea is still comfortable from the summer, so swimming is realistic in the first half of the month in particular. Rain becomes more likely as the month goes on, so pack for both sun and showers.
| Avg high | Avg low | Sea | Rainy days |
|---|---|---|---|
| 22°C | 15°C | 22°C | ~7 |

Crowds and prices
Crowds ease noticeably after the summer peak, and prices come down from their August highs, while the towns, gardens and restaurants are still fully alive in early October. It is a popular choice precisely because it balances good weather with a calmer atmosphere.
What is open, and transport
In early October most ferries, boat tours, beach clubs and restaurants are still operating, then begin to reduce hours or close towards the end of the month. SITA Sud buses run year-round. Confirm timetables with the operators (Travelmar, SITA Sud) for your exact dates, especially late in the month.
Driving and parking
Traffic eases through October, making the coastal road more relaxed than in summer. Town centres remain limited-traffic zones (ZTL); see the driving guide. If you bring a car, Villa Mansi has free private parking.
What to do in October
It is a fine month for both beach time (early on) and walking: the coastal trails and the Path of the Gods are comfortable in the cooler air. Add the gardens, food and towns via things to do in Ravello, and compare with other months in the best-time-to-visit guide.
What to pack
Light layers for warm days, a jumper for the evenings, a light waterproof for later in the month, swimwear for early October, and comfortable non-slip shoes. See the packing guide.
Is October a good time to visit?
For many travellers, early October is close to ideal: warm enough for the sea, calm enough to enjoy the towns, and cheaper than summer. Later October shades into the quieter, wetter off-season — see the autumn overview and, heading further on, November.
